BERKSHIRE HOCKEY FOUNDATION
Founded by Alex Regen, the Berkshire Hockey Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to making hockey and skating more accessible to young people throughout the Berkshires, regardless of socioeconomic background. Alex raised $260,000 toward the development of a refrigerated outdoor ice rink at historic Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Through community partnerships, youth programming, and its flagship event, the Berkshire Pond Hockey Classic, the foundation works to break down financial barriers and create opportunities for more people to experience the game.

BERKSHIRE POND HOCKEY CLASSIC
The Berkshire Pond Hockey Classic is an annual outdoor tournament held on the natural ice of Benedict Pond in Beartown State Forest. Founded by Alex Regen in 2023, the event has grown into a New England pond hockey tradition, bringing together players from across the Northeast for a day of competition, community, and outdoor recreation.
Featuring 18 teams and 120+ skaters playing 4-on-4, the tournament welcomes players, families, and spectators while supporting local businesses, nonprofits, and outdoor recreation programs throughout the Berkshires and beyond.
As the tournament grows, it remains rooted in its original mission of bringing people together through hockey, community, and a shared love of winter outdoor recreation.
